I will have lost some by now. But if you’re reading this, at least I haven’t lost you ?. I know I’ve lost some ?. And many of those will continue to create their own storms and get mad when it rains.
But if you want to stop creating storms, it’s not difficult. You’ll need to decide that you want to stop creating storms. Once you make up your mind about that, you’ll be on your way. You’ll want to keep the following things in mind on your journey:
1. Plan the future ?. Realize that big goals require longer to reach than small goals. It’s okay to have small goals. But keep in mind that big goals will require a long-term commitment. You’ll need to stay focused on the journey.
2. Manage the present ?. Stay in the right focus areas and out of the wrong ones. Realize that there is only so much time at your disposal. So use the time you have constructively. Eliminate the time wasters on your journey. Spend the bulk of your time in Area 2—where you have the most payoff for your effort.
3. Learn from the past ?. See mistakes as only temporary diversions. Learn the principles contained in the mistakes. Then leverage those principles on the journey ahead.
If you do these things, you will find that there are fewer storms in your life. Certainly, there will be fewer storms that YOU CREATED. And the storms that DO COME that you had no part in creating are an entirely different matter. That’s a topic for another day.
